Crisis and Suicide Support Safety Plan

  1. Acknowledge your feelings, are you having thoughts of suicide? Do you have a plan?

  2. Did you take your prescribed medication if you have it? This is the time to take any medication you might have that helps.

  3. Reach out to safe social support, friends, family, church members,

  4. Get moving, exercise is known to improve mood. Go for a walk, a bike ride, yoga or find an activity that you could do for 15-30 minutes.

  5. Find an activity you enjoy, like listening to music, watching a movie, taking a warm bath/shower, play with your pet, complete a craft, paint a picture, or play music.

  6. Acknowledge your feelings and check in with yourself. If your thoughts of suicide do not subside, and you feel like you are unable to keep yourself safe after going through steps 1-5, it’s time to engage step 6 and contact your crisis resources.   7. You are high risk if steps 1-6 have not helped, and your thoughts about suicide are not fleeting, but urges. If you feel you are unable to keep yourself safe. It is time to go to the ER.
